Job Summary

The HVAC Engineer is accountable for the smooth operation and functioning of all heating ventilating and air conditioning systems in the hotel as well as repair of equipment as assigned. He/she is also responsible for participating in the preventative maintenance program handling guest requests and other work orders as assigned. 

Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ experience with commercial HVAC equipment required. In process of or confirmed completion of 2-year basic HVAC course at an accredited college or trade school is preferred (may be required by assigned hotel location). 
  • Cooling tower chiller and refrigeration experience is required. 
  • EPA Universal license is required; HVAC License preferred.
  • Knowledge of building automated systems preferred. 
  • Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license for the applicable state (as required by hotel).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • HVAC Engineer 2 (5 years of experience, 2-3 year apprentice or equivalent)

    • Performs tasks using the standard power tools, materials, and trade codes to include personnel safety
    • Performs service, maintenance, replacement, and repair of direct expansion equipment, chilled water equipment and ventilation systems
    • Operates energy management system: schedules, starts and stops equipment, adjusts the parameter of the HVAC system, performs repairs to BAS equipment.
    • Keep records of the A/C shop
    • Assists in maintaining inventory of parts
    • Ensures that the work is completed in a safe worker like manner and applicable to standard trade practices and codes
    • Performs assigned preventive maintenance tasks including replacing filters, replacing bearings, lubricating motors, troubleshooting and making repair recommendations.
    • Maintains, replaces, and repairs cooling towers, air compressors, pneumatic regulators, lines and driers, air handler units, exhaust and supply fans, water pumps, direct expansion equipment, water coolers, thermostats and related equipment
    • Performs annual cleaning of coils and cooling towers
    • Knowledge of low pressure boilers.
    • Refrigeration knowledge to include remove and replace compressors, coils, evaporators, condensers, and other system components. Ability to braze, pull vacuum, and charge a system.
    • Diagnoses repairs and replaces, kitchen equipment, refrigerators, freezers, Ice Machines, Stoves, ovens, fryers, and grills.
    • Knowledge and ability to service hot water heat exchangers
    • Drive and VFD understanding and ability to troubleshoot.
    • Repair, replace, and rebuild single phase motors. Understands 3 phase motors.
    • Coordinates with other trades
    • Performs others duties as needed to include welding, plumbing, pipe fitting, or electrical knowledge skills as needed to perform listed job functions.
