Job Summary

We are seeking a Human Resources professional to join our team at Hotel MdR Marina del Rey - a DoubleTree by Hilton as our Human Resources Manager. The hotel recently completed a renovation and boasts a prime location in Marina del Rey located near Abbot Kinney in Venice, Santa Monica.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Human Resources Manager supports the team as they carry out the daily activities of the Human Resource Office including oversight of recruitment, total compensation, and training and development. Additionally he/she focuses on delivering HR services that meet or exceed the needs of employees and enable business success; as well as ensures compliance with federal state and local regulations and Aimbridge Hospitality operating procedures.  This individual is a culture ambassador for our team members and a servant leader and coach for our leaders. They combine the desire to authentically care for others with their human resources technical knowledge.  They will possess a myriad of skills to succeed in this unique role that include being a skilled recruiter not afraid to step out of the norm to find top-talent with being a collaborator and business partner assisting leaders to be better leaders.  All this to provide authentic care for our internal guests focusing on them reaching their full potential.  

 

Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities; for OEM associates overtime does apply and is calculated accordingly. The Human Resources Manager is charged with cultivating top-notch talent in an engaging atmosphere that embodies the essence to fulfill the most discerning guests’ expectations.  ​

Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

Are you ready for the next step in your career?  There is incredible growth opportunity in this position for someone who is flexible, intuitive, has great judgement and takes initiative.  Our ideal candidate will have experience managing Human Resources in a hotel as well as experience that involved interacting with a full range of employees (hourly to leaders).

  • A minimum of three years’ experience within human resources, preferably in a generalist role
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations
  • Ability to consistently display courtesy, etiquette, warmth and enthusiasm on the phone and in person
  • Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities in a professional manner
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult and emotional issues
  • Must possess strong communication and listening skills, excellent speaking, reading and writing skills
  • Ability to handle complex issues encountered using knowledge acquired through training and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to gain the trust and confidence of managers and employees and influence the organization
  • Ability to diagnose organizational issues and implement creative solutions
  • Analytical skills with demonstrated ability to translate data to insight and then into action
  • Ability to research and analyze various different types of data information
  • Strong computer skills including intermediate or above knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Multiple language abilities preferred. Fluency in English required and Spanish desired

This role will collaborate with leadership to assist managers in creating an understanding of business compliance, which affects associates' ability to excel in performing their duties to include:

  • Serving as the first point of contact for routine associate inquiries
  • Communicating and coordinating HR programs such as performance review process, team member opinion surveys, and open enrollment with Operations leaders to ensure first-class experience for team members​
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state and local ordinances as required   ​
  • Performing general administrative tasks for the HR Office ​
