Job Summary

The position of an IT support technician includes working with the end-user infrastructure support and maintenance. Individuals in this role should demonstrate good written and spoken communication skills good typing speed (50 words per minute and more) and the ability to troubleshoot multifaceted problems in a systematic manner.

Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 0 to 2 years of experience.
  • Performs work under direct supervision.
  • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify problems and repair printers copiers and scanners
  • Diagnose software and hardware problems
  • Repair and upgrade different types of computers (software and hardware)
  • Track prioritize and document requests using an IT support request system
  • Install and configure new computers and other IT equipment
  • Perform regular updates of servers
  • Keep track of IT supplies and equipment e.g. cables and adapters
  • Provides technical direction and recommendations to improve utilization. 
  • Reviews records and reports of production machine malfunctions and maintenance as well as organizational procedural and workflow plans and methods. 
  • Assists with testing of new release of software vendor modifications upgrades and patches.
