The Tennessean/Marriott at Maker Exchange is a premier hospitality destination renowned for its exceptional service, elegant ambiance, and vibrant bar and dining experiences. The Tennessean Hotel is a recent recipient of a Michelin Key,
awarded for its excellent service and beautiful hotel property. We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Lead Bartender to join our team and elevate our beverage service to new heights.

 

As the Lead Bartender, you will oversee the hotel’s bar operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while maintaining high-quality standards. You will be responsible for crafting innovative cocktails, managing bar inventory, training
staff, and delivering top-notch customer service.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the bar team, ensuring excellent service and adherence to
hotel standards.
• Schedule and lead monthly cocktail class for staff to refresh on past cocktails
and introduce new. Not limited to cocktails and spirits, may include wine, beer and
or/service.
• Alongside F&B leadership you will develop and execute an innovative
beverage program, including signature cocktails, seasonal menus and wine/spirits
selections.
• Stay on top of current market trends in order to maintain a cutting edge
program that appeals to wide scope of refined drinkers.
• Develop a top of the line non-alcoholic drinks program
• Manage the details of all cocktail presentations, keeping all bar staff
accountable for proper drinks execution.
• Train, mentor, and schedule bartenders and barbacks to optimize
performance.
• Monitor inventory, manage ordering, and control beverage costs.
• Maintain a clean, organized and compliant bar area, adhering to health and
safety regulations.
• Manage station sheets and station pars to ensure smooth service.
• Foster positive guest relationships by providing exceptional service and
addressing guest feedback.
• Collaborate with hotel management and F&B teams to develop promotions
and drive revenue.
• Handle opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and financial
reporting.
• Supervise daily bar operations.
• Manage ice program and educate staff on different mediums of ice and how
they affect cocktails.
• Manage fresh juice program via Zumex industrial juicer.
• Assist in monthly glassware and specialty vessel inventory.
• Ability to work with the marketing department in order to help post drink
videos/reels, share recipes and various drinks content to social media.
• Be an active member of the Knoxville cocktail community.

 

Qualifications:
• Minimum 3-5 years of bartending experience, with at least 1 year in a
supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of mixology, craft cocktails, wine, beers and spirits.
• Experience with craft cocktails, fresh juice program, craft ice program, in
house tinctures/syrups
• Wine credentials (Master Court, WSET) is a plus
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while still
maintaining attention to detail.
• Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe) preferred.
• Experience with POS systems and inventory management software.
